In 1974, Porsche created the Carrera RS 3.0, which was making 230PS. At about twice as expensive as the 2.7 RS, it was more of a track machine rather than a daily driven beast. The chassis has its similarity to the 73 Carrera RSR and its braking system came from the Porsche 917.
Back to our feature today, Dato Erik the owner of this immaculate beast has always been inspired by the 1974 RSR and the Porsche 917. He is a Porsche guy through and through. Aside from this beast, Dato Erik drives a 997 Turbo Manual daily. Due to his nature of work, Dato Erik drives his 997 not only on asphalt. He drives it on all sorts of terrain. Be it sand, mud nor stony routes. He drives his 997 everywhere he goes. Oh and his wife drives a Cayenne Turbo S, a Porsche enthusiast to say the least.
Dato Erik’s inspired built RSR Porsche was built based off a 1990 964 C2. The car was bought and built by Ninemeister Independent UK. It took them close to about 4 years to build the car. A full custom-built roll cage was built whilst the car was fully stripped down. The rear panel lights were retrofitted on as the body has some difference for the lights.
The engine is a 3.6L out of a 964 and is paired with a GT3 6 speed lsd gearbox from a 996. The exhaust system is a full RSR straight pipe system. A full Carbon Kevlar RSR Replica kit was then moulded to the car and then painted with the GULF livery.
The car is running on KW Clubsport V3+ suspension. The brakes are from the 993 Turbo paired with a custom made single hub offset wheels from FIKSE inspired by the Porsche 917. Dato Erik fitted the car with Stack Meters and a Dash 4 Pro on a Momo Prototipo Steering. A set of Recaro SPG wrapped in custom Gulf stitching alcantara paired with RS door panels. The gearknob is an inspired wooden piece from the 917.
Till date, Dato Erik has raced his prized possession in the Asia Classic Car race (Class R Replica Class) and had a 2nd and 3rd finishing to his accomplishment. Since shipping the car back from UK, Dato Erik has maintained the car with 1911 Autoworks for all his race preparations and usual maintenance.
He has no future plans with the car just yet as he has another project in his mind. Whatever it is, I am sure it would be just as amazing as this ride we are all drooling over.
